Moving Forward, Looking Back

Some of you may have noticed that the blog got a new look recently, I thought since it was the new year and the other look was a little outdated it was time for a change. While changing things on the website it gave me a chance to look back at old old posts like THIS ONE and THIS ONE. I realized this blog has become less about doing and creating things, and more about my life. I don't think it is a bad thing, but I want to try a little harder to bring you guys some projects. So keep an eye out for some totally awesome mom crafts coming your way!!

P.S.
feel free to browse the blog archive, some adorable Robby stuff in there that I have sort of forgotten about !!

Whats New Around Here.....

Geeez, its been hard to get back into the "blogger" mode after the holidays! I have been in an uneasy state of mind, but it seems to be settling down quite a bit. I have seen a lot of my dear friend Katie lately! By a lot I mean twice in one week and possibly plans for this Friday... I have a lot of respect for that girl, she is going through some rough times and I am just trying to be the best friend I can to her. She has an awesome esty shop, desertgypsyvintage that you should all go check out!! Today we went to the park with our boys, who are roughly 8 months apart so I love watching them play. I really enjoy talking with her, she tells it how it is and sometimes I really need to hear it!!

I took a major step in giving up meat today, by going and buying tofu while grocery shopping! I'm excited... Today I made an amazing salad for lunch and for dinner more veggies!!  I have never cooked tofu so I'll make sure to document my first attempt at making something with it!

In more "new" news..... Robert and I have been looking at new homes!! We will still be renters for a few more years, but we need more space.... I am excited to find our new home and start to feel "settled" again. I made some great purchases with my gift card to Buffalo Exchange from my mother! I spent half of the amount and saving the rest for when summer hits and I have a shopping itch again!!

I have been LIVING in this over-sized cardigan
Sheer Flowy Top

who doesn't love a Tshirt with a zipper?!

Michael Kors flats

Like my new spectacles!? I am as blind as a bat..... Robert has been pushing me to get lasik but the thought of cutting my eye open gives me creeps!!

I got to give my first crocheted gift for Christmas, ear-warmers! My goal was to make her a beanie, but I cant seem to master the art of the beanie just yet!  I made a play purse out of some unfinished things too .... I hope it stays together and that little Alina enjoys it. We also invested in a new truck!! Mostly because Robert got a new job and was losing his work truck aka our unofficial 2nd vehicle... Its nice and Robert has already been doing "man" stuff to it. He really does have a little sparkle in his eye when he drives it anywhere. hehe

I've been thinking a lot about getting a new tattoo, an Irish looking pin up girl.... similar to this but more Irish!!

I have some awesome DIY face masks coming soon....
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day!!

Its starting to feel a lot like Christmas . . .

Well the weather dropped about 25 degrees over night almost and it definitely feels like winter in Phoenix finally. This past weekend, I scored on some clothes at Goodwill, love when they have 50% off days! I also I froze my tushy off at the Fiesta Bowl Half Marathon, My eldest niece Camriana (14yrs old) ran her second 5k!! I am so ridiculously proud of that girl! She ended up getting 12th place in her age group and 123 out of the 900+ female runners! I sure hope she keeps up the great work and does more races!! It has inspired me to attempt to train and do a 5k with her sometime in 2012... stay tuned for that!!

thank god for those heaters, it was FREEEEEEZING!

I spy with my little eye....

Her friend from school and racing buddy

 My sister, the proud mom

The proud auntie, "Me"

So I decided to make an attempt to "model" my awesome finds this time around since they were all articles of clothing. I use the word model loosely though, I am far from a model. It was so very cold outside and I was trying to look "cute" not "frostbitten" .... hopefully you all enjoy them.

Robby wanted to model something off so we turned my scarf into a superhero cape
he might have a career in modeling.hehe.

Although NOT cheap or bought this weekend at goodwill, I love these COACH heels my boyfriend bought me a few Christmas's back....
HAPPY TUESDAY EVERYONE!

2nd hand stuff

I have been trying to deter myself from buying new and instead of running to target or the nearest mall for my shopping fix, go to a thrift store. So far so good, I've scored on some awesome things! I'm also working on not spending mass amounts all at once, but a few things here and there.  I found a few stores that I will for sure be going to regularly :) Here are the latest finds .....

A cute little hand painted ornament that came in its own little box:) Not sure if I want to gift this or keep it....
 Awesome bracelet for 99c !
Cute little penguin Christmas cookie tray, love this so much....

 New top!
I love finding good deals with everything, but I love scoring on clothes the most though......

enjoying left over apple pie while I blog = heaven :)

Date Night

As parents Robert and I don't get  to go out on dates like we want/used to, so every now and then we drop Robby off at his grandparents (which they love) and we get to act like boyfriend and girlfriend for a few hours. When we first started dating sushi was a weekly thing for us, now its a rare occasion. We planned to go to a place downtown that a friend recommend Moira Sushi, but apparently we are uncool and showed up before 5pm which is when they opened. We had a laugh about being the "out of touch" parents that had dinner at 4pm and went to bed by 8pm. The only other sushi place I knew of in the area was Stingray Sushi, so although the place was empty..... it was open.

He and I both splurged and ordered a very OVER priced beer/cocktail and stuffed our faces.

How excited I was when the sushi got to our table. hehe.

Delicious. yet EXPENSIVE!
It didn't take as long as we had planned at dinner so afterwards we wondered around the shopping mall holding hands and talking about old times.

I never had "hips" till I had a baby.
We then found ourselves at a thrift shop that was near by called "Cheap Thrills" and "Cheap Thrills 2".  I am STILL in search of that vanity I spoke about in a previous post, so we hoped to find something there.

They did have some awesome old stuff and I was a kid in a candy store. We didn't make any purchases though, but we will return again soon.

Finally, home with my boys... and out of those heels.

Awesome Find (Antique Trove)

I don't get much time to myself or even get to leave the house as often as I did before I had a baby. So when I do get those moments out/alone and I am able to stumble upon great thrift/antique store, its a double win! This past weekend I went out on a search to find a vanity with personality (aka used/thrift store find) After a few failed visits to Goodwill and Salvation Army.... I went to this place called Antique Trove.
